Our Norman Conquest Interactive School Workshop takes pupils back to 1066, where they can dress as characters from the period, discover historical arms and armour, learn battlefield tactics and become part of the story.

Pupils are invited to step into the roles of people who lived through the events of 1066.
With our selection of historical costumes, children can dress as Saxon warriors, Norman soldiers, nobles and other characters from the period.
Through role-play and storytelling, they discover what life was like for the people caught up in the Norman invasion.
⚔️ Discover Saxon Arms & Armour
Get up close to the equipment of a warrior from 1066!
Pupils can discover how warriors were protected and equipped for battle, exploring replica weapons, shields, helmets and armour.
They'll learn how these pieces were used and why they were so important on the battlefield.
🏹 The Battle of Hastings
Travel back to 14 October 1066 and discover how the battle unfolded.

Can you hold the shield wall?
Pupils discover how warriors fought together and why discipline and formation were essential to medieval armies.
They explore the principles behind Saxon shield-wall tactics, Norman attacks and battlefield manoeuvres through interactive demonstrations and activities.
