The Wars of the Roses

The Wars of the Roses were a series of brutal civil wars that took place between 1455 and 1485 over control of the English throne. Fought between two rival factions within the House of Plantagenet, the House of York and the House of Lancaster; the bitter power struggles and political manipulation spanned 30 years, finally coming to a head in 1485 with the rise of the Tudor dynasty.
